8 of my favourite places to eat in Brisbane
Planning a trip to Brisbane? Living in BrisVegas and want to check out some different restaurants and cafes? We love food and during our most recent trip back to Brisbane we did A LOT of eating out. One of the highlights of our holiday was going back to our favourite old haunts for a meal or a coffee. We also made the most of having family around again and tried out a few new restaurants without the boys in tow.
All of the places we visited are worthy of sharing for their amazing food and service. My list includes a mix of fine-dining meals, delicious breakfast, amazing cafes and easy casual meals to enjoy with the kids.
1. Stokehouse Q
I just love this place. Located in a prime position right on the Brisbane river, this fine dining restaurant is an experience you need to have. The menu is amazing, the river views from your table (through open breezy windows) are stunning and the service is impeccable. We stopped by The Stokehouse for a pre-wedding drink recently. It was a perfect sunny day and I remember how relaxed I felt sitting and enjoying the view, while sipping on champagne. Simply just having the opportunity to sit down and not run after our boys was amazing! The perfect spot to celebrate a special occasion. You will love!
2. Beccofino
An icon in Brisbane, Beccofino is located in trendy, riverside Teneriffe. They serve up genuine Italian pasta and wood-fired pizzas that are so authentic and full of flavour, you will have to come back for more. My hubby and I have been coming here for years as we used to live locally. We loved the suburb of Teneriffe so much we had both our engagement party and wedding in this gorgeous riverside suburb. We had a family get together at Beccofino a few weeks back and everyone including our boys absolutely loved their meals. It’s a popular spot with a buzzing vibe so definitely consider booking ahead especially on weekends.
3. Ginga Sushi
Definitely our favourite sushi train in Brisbane. Located at multiple spots across Brissie, we like to go to Ginga at Portside with our boys. We make an afternoon of it by taking a walk alongside the Brisbane River at Hamilton so the boys can watch the boats go by. A few times we have been lucky enough to time our visit with the arrival or departure of a huge cruise ship, which the boys find very exciting! Then there’s always the awesome playground across the road and a few different dessert options for afterwards.
The sushi is made fresh, there’s a huge variety to choose from and its totally kid friendly with booths to sit at if you choose. There’s also a menu to order additional sushi or other Japanese meals. A favourite dish of mine is the Teriyaki Chicken served with rice and veggies.

4. Reef Seafood & Sushi
This is a family favourite for lunch or dinner. Located at Gasworks in Newstead, we have visited this casual seafood restaurant time and time again. We’ve also celebrated more than a few birthdays here. The meals are huge and delicious and the seafood amazingly fresh. We always order crumbed snapper served with chips and salad or if there’s a large group of us we order the seafood platter which is fantastic value for money! There’s also the option to order fresh sushi.
5. Buzz Bistro
If you are after a gourmet brekkie then this is the place to come. The breakfasts here are delicious and will keep you full for hours. The dish I love to order is the potato and zucchini fritters served with bacon, whipped feta, pickled zucchini and tomato relish. Buzz at Gasworks in Newstead is great, as the kids can run and play in the huge open gasometer space, right next door to the cafe. There is loads of outdoor seating so you can keep a watchful eye on the kids (younger kids would need closer supervision). They serve great coffee and the decor is bright and fresh.

6. Campos Coffee
Another one of my favourites at Gasworks in Newstead. The perfect spot to indulge in a sweet pastry or a freshly baked muffin.. The coffee here is consistently amazing and there are other light lunch options available too. My boys absolutely adore the milkshakes and babycinos here.
7. Nickel Kitchen & Bar
Our first time visiting this recently opened, gorgeous restaurant in the heart of Fortitude Valley. They serve hearty meals which are a modern take on classic dishes. I ordered the Barossa Valley Chicken Kiev for my main and loved how the chicken was so tender and the vegetables were full of flavour. We ordered some sides as well so after an entree and main there was sadly no space for dessert. The service was amazing and we absolutely love the decor especially the huge chandelier made of wine gasses. Simply stunning.

8. Tartufo La Pizzeria
Probably my favourite pizza restaurant in Brisbane, since having a fun girls’ night out here during our recent trip back to Brisbane. Located at The Emporium, they serve true italian pizza with a large range of toppings on the menu. We ordered a variety of pizzas to share at the table and all of them tasted deliciously authentic. The dessert tasted so good I ended up really regretting my decision to share with a friend. Just be sure to book at the La Pizzeria for pizza as there is a separate restaurant here which has a different menu.
These faves are just scratching the tip of what Brisbane has to offer as far as eating out is concerned. I could add in a whole lot more but these are the places we visited recently and they are all serving up great food and have fantastic service. Enjoy!
