The end of Winter is fast approaching, it’s time to refresh with a brand new Origin LumbarCloud Mattress. I can’t tell you how excited I am to upgrade our mattress after at least ten years. When I heard about the Origin LumbarCloud Mattress the name immediately appealed to me as well as the fact it provides therapeutic support. After reading about its features online we decided to give this mattress a try. Here are our honest thoughts on the Origin LumbarCloud Mattress from the moment it arrived at our door, unpacking it and most importantly our experience sleeping on it.
Ease of Delivery
Who would’ve thought a queen sized mattress can be delivered in a box straight to your door. Ten years ago when purchasing our previous mattress this wasn’t an option. Although still heavy to lift (we needed two people) it is much easier to get a rectangular box up the stairs and into our bedroom, compared with an awkward unrolled mattress. Delivery to our home was timely and on the day we requested.
Unpacking
Upon opening the box we noted the mattress was vacuum packed. It’s easy to carefully cut through the plastic wrap, allowing the mattress to bounce open into position flat on the bed base. We left the mattress 24 hours to decompress. Our Origin LumbarCloud mattress arrived in perfect condition. There was no damage to either the box or the mattress.
First Impressions
The second our new Origin LumbarCloud mattress unrolled onto the base I noticed how plush the pillowtop layer is. This layer is not only super soft but surprisingly cool to touch. Origin claims this helps with temperature regulation while you sleep. The inclusion of handles on the side of the mattress allowed me to easily pull the mattress into a central position on the base. Our new mattress looks fresh, luxe and exactly what I expected prior to ordering the mattress.
Time To Sleep On It
When initially lying down on our new LumbarCloud mattress it feels very firm compared with our previous ten year old mattress. However within minutes the firmness changed to a feeling of comfort and support. Lying on my side or back feels equally comfortable.
As I have chronic back pain, I’m keen to see how my back feels after sleeping on the Origin LumbarCloud mattress. Several days in using our new mattress I’m waking pain free. I’m also sleeping pain free, waking only once or twice because I’m too hot. Overheating is a normal occurrence for me likely due to the blankets and duvet I’m using, not the mattress. It’s difficult to know if the mattress helps with temperature regulation. Maybe I will notice a difference during Summer.
Our Verdict
The difference I notice compared with our previous mattress, is my back feels more supported sleeping on the Origin LumbarCloud. It is firmer, less saggy when lying on it and softer to touch making it very comfortable. It is sufficiently designed to prevent aggravation of my chronic back pain as I’m waking with no aches and pains. I found it difficult to know if the mattress helps with temperature regulation however I noticed the top layer is surprisingly cool to touch. We love that the mattress arrived at our door, vacuum packaged in a box. This was not only convenient but also allowed us to more easily move the mattress upstairs and position it on our bed. The side handles are a great addition helping move the mattress to the centre of the bed base.
